Watch: Faf du Plessis hit one of the longest sixes in the history of the IPL when he slammed a 115-metre six against Lucknow Super Giants’ Ravi Bishnoi in Bengaluru today (April 10).
The fourth ball of the 15th over of the innings was dropped short by the leg-spinner. RCB skipper du Plessis hung back in his crease and got to the length of the ball before smacking it over long on for a huge 115-metre six that landed on the roof of the Chinnaswamy stadium. It left Sanjay Manjrekar, on commentary, in awe, as he blurted out “Chris Gayle stuff” as soon as the shot was hit. Du Plessis’ batting partner Glenn Maxwell was surprised at the big hit too and immediately applauded his skipper.
Du Plessis scored his fifty in 35 deliveries, bringing up the landmark with another maximum off Mark Wood. He was batting on 25 in 21 balls at one stage and took 14 deliveries for his next 25 runs.
