Watch: Akash Madhwal picked up two wickets in two balls, including sending back Nicholas Pooran for a golden duck in a match-turning spell of 5-5 during the IPL 2023 Eliminator between Lucknow Super Giants and Mumbai Indians today (May 24).

Chasing 183 to qualify for Qualifier 2, LSG got off to a dismal start and were reduced to 23-2 before Krunal Pandya and Marcus Stoinis made 46 for the third wicket. However, the skipper’s dismissal in the ninth over started a collapse, with uncapped fast bowler Madhwal causing most of the damage in the space of two deliveries.

He first dismissed Ayush Badoni on the fourth ball of the tenth over, bowling him with a length delivery, before proceeding to get Pooran next up. Bowling round the wicket, he sent down a fuller delivery, which the batter tried to push away. However, he only managed a thick outside edge to the keeper, as LSG crumbled from 69-2 to 74-5 within nine balls.

Madhwal conceded only one run in the over, with his figures after the first two overs reading 2-0-3-3. He eventually ended with a stunning 5-5 in only 3.3 overs.
