Watch: 6, 4, 4, 1, 6 – Shahrukh Khan, Harpreet Brar finish off in style, smash 21 off final over in momentum-shifting cameos
Watch: Shahrukh Khan smashed three successive boundaries in the last over of Punjab Kings’ innings against Kolkata Knight Riders, while Harpreet Brar also chipped in with a six during their 40-run stand in just 16 deliveries at Eden Gardens today (May 8).
KKR had a stronghold on the game, as Punjab Kings reached 143-7 after the end of 18 overs, with Brar and Khan batting on 2 (3) and 1 (2), respectively. However, PBKS ensured they had the momentum with them in the innings break, as they notched up 36 runs in the last two overs, including taking 21 in the 20th.
The penultimate over, bowled by Vaibhav Arora, saw the PBKS batters hit three fours, before taking the attack to Harshit Rana, who had figures of 2-12 in two overs up till that point. The first ball to Khan was a slower delivery, which the batter lofted over long-on easily. He followed it up with two fours – towards the off-side and the short third – before he took a single to give the strike to Brar. The onslaught left Punjab Kings skipper Shikhar Dhawan in laughter in the dressing room.
Brar smashed a 90-metre six on the next ball as PBKS hit two sixes and as many fours in the over. Punjab eventually ended on 179-7, with Khan remaining unbeaten on 21 in eight and Brar making 17 off nine balls.
