Watch: David Warner switches ends to take on Liam Livingstone, gets out first ball

David Warner was dismissed first ball by Liam Livingstone

Watch: David Warner, opening the batting for Delhi Capitals, asked his partner Sarfaraz Khan to switch ends just before the first ball, taking strike against Liam Livingstone. The Australian, though, was dismissed off the first ball he faced.

Led by Mayank Agarwal, Punjab Kings won the toss and inserted Delhi Capitals in to bat. In Prithvi Shaw’s absence, a lot was riding on Warner, considering the rich vein of form he has been in IPL 2022. Mayank, however, decided to use a spinner upfront, probably to curb Warner’s brisk scoring against fast bowling. The Australian fell into the trap as he sliced a length delivery straight to the fielder at backward point.

Prior to the first ball, Warner was seen asking his partner Sarfaraz to start at the non-striker’s end, despite the latter having taken guard. The Punjab Kings also had to switch over their field owing to Warner’s last-minute change of heart. As it turned out, it only hastened the Australian’s departure, with the Delhi Capitals getting off to the worst possible start.
