Watch: Suryakumar Yadav sent a Pat Cummins delivery flying onto the roof of the Chepauk stadium in Chennai, leaving the Mumbai camp, and Hardik Pandya in particular, in awe.
Suryakumar, who’s been in glorious touch in the past few IPL seasons, unleashed a typically fluid attack on the KKR bowlers during their IPL 2021 game, bringing up his fifty off just 32 balls against Eoin Morgan’s side. Batting at No.3, he took the initiative even as skipper Rohit Sharma played second fiddle, hitting seven fours and two sixes during his stay.
The second six of the innings, which brought up his fifty, was arguably the shot of the tournament thus far, as the 30-year-old nonchalantly picked a length ball from Cummins, bringing out a big, helicopter swing to whip it well over the square leg boundary ropes.
The ball caught the meat of the bat and flew far and wide, landing on the roof of the stadium, where it bounced a few times, before disappearing from sight, leaving the Mumbai camp in joy.
His teammate Hardik perhaps had the most animated reaction to the stroke, standing up from his seat and applauding the hit with a look of astonishment on his face.
Here’s the stunning strike, and the Pandya reaction that followed:
