Former England batsman Brian Bolus dies aged 86

Brian Bolus, who played seven Tests for England, has died at the age of 86.

Bolus started his career at Yorkshire before moving to Nottinghamshire ahead of the 1963 season.

He made 269 first-class appearances for Notts across 10 seasons, captaining the club in his final season at the club in 1972. He spent four more seasons at Derbyshire, ending his playing days with 39 first-class centuries to his name.

His brief international career began in 1963 and ended the following year, with four half-centuries leading to a Test average of 41.33 for the opening batsman. 

Following his playing career, Bolus went on to serve as an England selector and chairman of the England management advisory committee. He was president of Notts from 2004 to 2005.
