Compilation: Cricketers take the Toilet Roll Challenge with mixed results

by Wisden Staff 1 minute read

With self-isolation and social distancing being the norm these days, cricketers have taken after the footballers’ Toilet Roll challenge, with varied degrees of success.

Some are complete and utter fails, while others were pretty good efforts, all considered. Our favourites, however, were the innovative ones.

Below we take a quick look at how cricketers have fared in the Toilet Roll Challenge.

Michael Vaughan

The former England captain wasn’t an easy watch. He was too right-footed, and ended up kicking the roll over the fence into the neighbour’s backyard. Rating – 1/5.

Danni Wyatt

The England top-order batter’s effort was commendable, especially given she didn’t have too much room in her room. She was strong on both feet, she managed to evade the lounge chair at one point, although was there a hint of hand ball? Rating – 4/5.

Georgia Adams

A decent effort from the Loughborough Lightning and Sussex opener. After a nervy start, the juggles came nice and smooth, off both feet, till she miscued it. Rating – 3/5.

Darren Sammy

A fine effort from the former West Indies T20I captain. Two-footed, composed, used the thighs well, and all this with what was surely a very uncomfortable mask on. Rating – 4/5.

Ian Bell

This was our favourite. Bell played to his strengths – why juggle when you can cream a cover drive like that? Full toss around off from his son, and Bell administered some tough love. “Don’t bowl there, son.” Rating – 5/5.
