West Indies v South Africa 2021: Squads & team list for the WI v SA Tests & T20Is

WI v SA - Test and T20I squads
by Wisden Staff 2 minute read

South Africa travel to West Indies for a Test series after a decade. This is followed by a T20I series in late June – full WI & SA squads and team lists here.

South Africa named a large contingent flying out to the Caribbean Islands for the two Tests and five T20Is starting June 10. The T20I squad was expected to feature some T20 globetrotters like AB de Villiers, Chris Morris and Imran Tahir after Graeme Smith, the Director of Cricket at CSA, said that they were considering bringing in these big names. However, none of them made the cut, with de Villiers confirming one final time that his international career had ended.

The Test squad has a few new names in Lizaad Williams, Prenelan Subrayen and Marco Jansen. Dolphins’ Sarel Erwee, the back-up opener, remains in the touring party although he is yet to make his Test debut.

West Indies, meanwhile, have announced their T20I squad that has most of their prominent stars returning in preparation for the T20 World Cup. Andre Russell, Chris Gayle, Dwayne Bravo and Lendl Simmons are in the setup with Sunil Narine the only major player missing. They are yet to name the Test team.
