Watch: Rohit Sharma had to walk back on 49 on the second day of the fourth Test against England after two of the three DRS elements stuck to the umpire’s call.

The India opener was crucial to their fight in Ahmedabad on Friday, keeping their innings afloat despite wickets falling on the other end. Rohit quashed his natural attacking instinct and instead played a waiting game, before he was finally dismissed for a 144-ball 49.

The right-hander’s dismissal was slightly unusual. After the on-field umpire raised his finger, Rohit opted for DRS. While the review showed that the ball had pitched in line, its impact and trajectory were both left to umpire’s call.

Ultimately, the batsman had to walk back with two yellows and one red flashing on the big screen.
