Marnus Labuschagne brings up a century in style
by Wisden Staff 2 minute read

Watch: Marnus Labuschagne brought up his second century of the English summer in today’s County Championship Division 2 clash between Glamorgan and Sussex.

In the first innings, Labuschagne had been trapped by prospective Ashes adversary Ollie Robinson for a solitary run. In the second, he recovered well to show an excellent range of shots to bring up his second century for Glamorgan this summer.

His first ton (170 not out) had come in the second innings against Yorkshire. Combined with today’s 138, he looks to be in fine fettle as his Ashes preparations continue.

Labuschagne came into the second innings with his team in a relatively comfortable position. A half century from opener Eddie Byrom had helped Glamorgan reach 91 before the Australian was called in.

While striking at a rate of 57, Labuschagne formed a mighty partnership with Glamorgan skipper Kiran Carlson, who remained unbeaten on 187 going into the final day.

Sussex made an impressive 481 in the first innings, with runs coming mainly from Steve Smith and James Coles in the middle order, but Glamorgan managed to wrestle the game slightly in their favour with a lead of 141 runs as the game went into its final day of play.

Regardless of the outcome of this game, one thing is for certain. Labuschagne looks to be in fine form as he readies himself for the World Test Championship final against India at Lord’s and for that first Ashes Test at Edgbaston on June 16.
