Watch: KL Rahul blasted a powerful six off Shoriful Islam in India’s match against Bangladesh, leaving Virat Kohli stunned at the other end.
India were flying along in the opening overs of their penultimate Super 12 match, reaching 52 off their first eight, when Rahul unleashed against Shoriful. The opener has been in a lean trott of form recently, registering three single digit scores in India’s opening T20 World Cup games, but looked back to his best against Bangladesh in Adelaide.
Planting his feet firmly in the crease, Rahul picked up the ball from outside the off stump, pulling it powerfully over the point boundary with a flick of his wrists. It looked effortless, the opener holding the pose to admire his work as the ball flew deep into the stands.
At the non-striker’s end, Kohli looked astonished by the power of the shot, tracking the ball through the air open mouthed. He turned to look at Rahul in disbelief after seeing how far the ball had gone.
Rahul was finally dismissed after making fifty off 32 balls in India’s total of 184-6. Kohli continued his incredible form in this T20 World Cup by compiling an unbeaten 64 off 44 to take him to the top of the tournament’s run scoring charts.
