The inaugural edition of SA20 will begin on January 10, with MI Cape Town clashing against Paarl Royals. Here is a list of the match officials at the SA T20 league.
Experienced umpire Marais Erasmus will headline a 12-umpire contingent that will officiate during SA20. Among others, he will be joined by Allahudein Palekar, who made his Test umpiring debut earlier in the year and Adrian Holdstock, who officiated in the men’s T20 World Cup.
A total of five match referees have also been selected to oversee proceedings. The five match referees are – Barry Lambson, Laurence Matroos, Zama Ndamane, Gerrie Pienaar and Shaid Wadvalla.
SA20’s format will see each of the six sides playing against each other twice in the round-robin phase. The top four will then qualify for the semi-finals, which are slated to be held on February 8 and 9 at the Wanderers and Centurion, respectively. The summit clash is pencilled down for February 11 and will take place at the Wanderers in Johannesburg.
Six teams will participate in the inaugural edition, with those being Durban Super Giants, Joburg Super Kings, MI Cape Town, Paarl Royals, Pretoria Capitals and Sunrisers Eastern Cape. MI Cape Town and Paarl Royals are currently among the favourites in the SA20 betting.
