Alex Hales, Chris Jordan set to play Pakistan-leg of PSL 2019

Alex Hales and Chris Jordan are set to play in Pakistan for the knockout stage of the Pakistan Super League 2019.

Hales will turn out for Islamabad United, whom he represented in four matches in the third edition of the PSL last year, while Jordan will once again link-up with Peshawar Zalmi – he had to leave them midway through the league stage of the tournament to play the T20Is in the Caribbean.

Hales, in fact, will replace former England batsman Ian Bell in the Islamabad squad. “I am delighted to be back with Islamabad United for this year’s Pakistan Super League, and I can’t wait to play in front of our passionate fans,” said the England opening batsman.

“We have seen exciting cricket at the PSL this year and Islamabad United has put in some excellent performances. I look forward to joining the squad and I hope that I can help the team lift the trophy once again.”

Islamabad won five of their 10 league matches to finish third in the six-team table. Hales, meanwhile, didn’t really click in the T20Is, with scores of 11, 8 and 20 in his three matches.

Jordan, however, was in brilliant form in the Caribbean – he claimed six wickets to finish the series as the joint-highest wicket-taker. He failed to make the Zalmi XI before departing for the Caribbean, but his form in the T20Is might just push his case for selection.

Zalmi finished at the top of the table after the league stages. They will take on Quetta Gladiators in the Qualifier on March 13 before Islamabad and Karachi Kings clash in the Eliminator on March 14.
