Watch: Mohammad Kaif turned back the clock to take two back-to-back screamers in India Maharajas‘ clash against Asia Lions in the Legends League Cricket 2023 yesterday (March 18).

Asia Lions had won the toss and had opted to bat first. Having got off to a blistering start, thanks to the Sri Lankan opening pair of Upul Tharanga and Tillakaratne Dilshan, they were looking on course for a huge total. Tharanga had just reached his 50 off 30 balls in the ninth over when Kaif leapt to his right and plucked the ball out of thin air at cover, off the bowling of Pragyan Ojha.

And he was not done yet. Seven overs later, in the 16th over of the innings, he was stationed at long-off when Pravin Tambe was bowling. Mohammad Hafeez was batting on 38 off 24 and was looking crisp. He stepped out and tried to go inside out, but wasn’t able to get the angle right.

Kaif was lightning fast to cover the ground to his left and dived forward at the last moment to cut Hafeez’s innings short and take his second blinder of the night.

Despite Kaif’s best efforts in the field, India Maharajas weren’t able to get over the line as they lost the game by 85 runs in the end.
