Watch: Rahul Tewatia launched an incredible late assault in the finishing stages of Gujarat Titans’ innings against Mumbai Indians – smashing an unbeaten five-ball 20, including a leg-side six off Riley Meredith in today’s IPL 2023 match in Ahmedabad.

Tewatia, who has made his name by conjuring last-gasp cameos in the IPL, produced another of his trademark gems, helping the Titans finish with a flourish. Coming in at No.7, he gave David Miller company and helped hammer 57 runs in the last three overs, a brisk charge that carried the defending champions over 200.

Among his three sixes was a fierce hit off his very first delivery, plonking his front leg outside off, and slog-sweeping Riley Meredith well over the deep square leg fence. It was a slower ball – clocked at 113kph – but Tewatia spotted it early. “Imagine walking out and playing a shot like that,” roared Mark Howard on commentary.

He hit consecutive ones off Behrendorff in the final over, the second one taking Titans past 200. They eventually ended on 207-6, the highest total in their short IPL history. Along the way, Tewatia rolled his ankle, but was able to face the final ball.

In all, Mumbai conceded 77 runs off their last five overs. Tewatia finished unbeaten with a strike rate of 400.
