GT v LSG and RR v SRH: IPL 2023 team news

LSG will be without their regular skipper KL Rahul, who has been ruled out of the remainder of the IPL. They have signed Karun Nair as his replacement, although it remains to be seen if he gets a game against GT. Mohsin Khan also returned to the line-up against CSK and is expected to feature against GT as well. Quinton de Kock could also get a go, if LSG feel the need to bulk up their batting unit.

GT, meanwhile, do not seem to have any injury concerns. Their line-up looks settled, with Noor Ahmad and Rashid Khan recently wreaking havoc against Rajasthan Royals. Hardik Pandya also starred with a 15-ball 39 and GT have no real reason to change a winning combination. Josh Little, however, will be unavailable owing to Ireland’s upcoming ODI series against Bangladesh.

RR, though, might have to rethink their team combination. After winning four of their first five games in IPL 2023, they have won just once in their next five, which included a nine-wicket hammering against GT. They could be tempted to use Joe Root to bulk up their batting or they could try bringing back Jason Holder and using his batting abilities a lot more.

SRH, like RR, are enduring a tough time. Their most recent encounter ended in defeat to Kolkata Knight Riders and they seem unsure of what their best combination is. Apart from Washington Sundar being ruled out of IPL 2023, they have their full squad at their disposal. But it remains to be seen what kind of combination they adopt in an away game against RR.

GT v LSG and RR v SRH: Today’s IPL 2023 match prediction

GT got back to winning ways after a blip against Delhi Capitals and would come into this game as favourites, especially with LSG missing KL Rahul. The defending champions will also enjoy home advantage and would want to become the first team this season to get to 14 points.

The RR-SRH fixture pits two sides undergoing rough spells against each other. RR, because of their home advantage, might just be favourites, though. With this game being vital, in terms of RR’s qualification hopes, expect them to put their best foot forward.
