Watch: Rohit Sharma was dismissed by a slower bouncer by Trent Boult during the first India-New Zealand T20I. Following the game, the India captain revealed how the speedster used his advice against him to get his wicket.

Team India got off to a good start in the new Rohit Sharma-Rahul Dravid era, winning the first T20I against New Zealand by five wickets on Wednesday. Chasing 165 for a win, the home team was aided by a crucial knock of 48 in just 36 balls by Rohit, before Suryakumar Yadav got going, with 62 in 40 deliveries.

The opener, who missed his half-century in the game, was dismissed by his Mumbai Indians teammate Trent Boult. Rohit revealed that the Kiwi quick used his advice of bluffing the oppositions against him to plot his downfall, whilst adding that Boult knew his weakness.

“We (Boult and I) played a lot of cricket together and he knows my weakness and I know his strength, it’s a good fight between the two. When I captain him I always tell him to bluff, and that’s exactly what he did”, he said.

“He put the mid-wicket back and put the fine leg up and I knew he was gonna bowl a bouncer and I was just trying to put it over the fielder but unfortunately there wasn’t much pace on the ball”, he further added.
