Watch: Mohammed Shami sends David Warner’s off-stump cartwheeling
Watch: Mohammed Shami produced an excellent delivery to breeze past David Warner’s defences and send his off stump cartwheeling during the 1st Test between India and Australia at Nagpur.
After winning the toss and electing to bat, Australia would have hoped for their openers to get them off to a good start. However, Mohammed Siraj struck with his first ball, pinning Usman Khawaja leg-before with his first ball.
All eyes were now on Warner, but Shami had other ideas. In the third over, Shami bowled the ball on a length just outside off stump. The ball nipped back sharply and cut Warner in half, brushing his pad before sending off stump flying. Warner could not believe what had happened and wore a surprised look as he walked back to the pavilion.
Australia were 2-2, but Marnus Labuschagne and Steve Smith batted until lunch. Then, upon resumption of play, Ravindra Jadeja took out Labuschagne (49) and Matt Renshaw with consecutive balls.
At the time of writing, Australia are 85-4 with Smith on 25 and Peter Handscomb yet to score.
