Watch: In the third Test match between India and Australia, in Indore, Umesh Yadav produced two outstanding balls to clean bowl Mitchell Starc and Todd Murphy.

After Matt Kuhnemann (5-16), Nathan Lyon (3-35), and Todd Murphy (1-23) had bowled out India for 109 in 33.2 overs, Usman Khawaja (60) and Marnus Labuschagne (31) kept Australia ahead in the Test match with a 96-run partnership despite periodic strikes from Ravindra Jadeja (4-78).

Australia were 156-4 after the first day’s cricket, and Peter Handscomb (19) and Cam Green (21) extended that to 186-4 on the second morning before Shreyas Iyer caught Handscomb off R Ashwin (3-44) at short-leg.

Umesh (3-12) trapped Green leg-before shortly afterwards. Then, bowling around the wicket to the left-handed Starc, he bowled on the off-stump, and the ball moved just enough to hold its line. If Starc read the line, his bat did not come in time for the ball. The ball knocked the off-stump out of its groove.

Ashwin had Alex Carey leg-before as well before Umesh got Murphy, who played in line but probably did not adjust for the reverse swing. The off-stump got knocked out – again.

Umesh now has 101 wickets on Indian soil – the fifth-most among fast bowlers, after Kapil Dev (219), Javagal Srinath (108), Zaheer Khan (104), and Ishant Sharma (104). Umesh’s average (26.49) and strike rate (46) are both the best of the five.

Nathan Lyon then tried to slog sweep Ashwin and lost his leg-stump. From 186-4, Australia lost six wickets for 11 runs in 40 balls to be bowled out for 197. They lead by 88 runs.
