The list of players isn’t too long, totalling 49 men in total. That’s to be expected. Generally, unless your an all-rounder or perhaps a wicketkeeper, No.6 isn’t a position you stay for too long, but where you show you’re cut out for Test cricket before moving up the order.

Still, this list does include some true greats. A few were specialists at batting with the tail, others played in exceptionally strong teams, where No.6 was often the only place available.
