Kohli finally registered his 28th Test ton after a gap of almost three and a half years. He had not crossed 50 in the five innings that he had played in the ongoing India-Australia Test series before this game but given a good surface for a change, he grabbed the opportunity with both hands and now has a hundred in all three formats within the last 12 months.

During this rather long interval between his 27th and 28th Test tons, a host of other batters (and a few bowlers as well!) breached the three-figure mark – 85 to be precise.
