Pick the England XI for the first New Zealand Test

England kick off their home international summer with a two-Test series against New Zealand.

New Zealand will offer stern opposition; the Blackcaps were top of the ICC Test team rankings as recently as this year and will contest the World Test Championship final against India after the culmination of the England series.

England will go into the series missing plenty of their Test regulars. Both Jofra Archer and Ben Stokes will miss the series through injury while they will also be without their IPL stars remains. England will need to rejig the balance of their side with the confirmed absence of Stokes and fellow all-rounders Sam Curran, Chris Woakes and Moeen Ali.

After initially naming a 15-man squad, England were forced to call-up Haseeb Hameed and Sam Billings on May 26 after wicketkeeper Ben Foakes was ruled out of the series with a torn hamstring.
