Cook, Anderson take Wisden Cricketers’ Almanack 2019 cover
The cover of this year’s Wisden Cricketers’ Almanack has been revealed, with James Anderson and Sir Alastair Cook selected to adorn the iconic yellow jacket.
Both will remember the moment pictured fondly. It came in the wake of England securing victory over India at The Oval, Cook’s last Test for England. He marked the occasion with his 33rd Test century, moving past Kumar Sangakkara to fifth in the all-time Test runscorers list in the process.
Anderson sealed the win with his 564th Test wicket, making him the standalone leading wicket-taker in Test cricket among fast bowlers, putting Australia’s Glenn McGrath into second place.

Last year’s cover featured a women’s cricketer for the first time, with England’s World Cup hero Anya Shrubsole pictured holding the trophy. The cover for the year before showed Virat Kohli, selected as Wisden’s Leading Cricketer in the World for the past two years, playing a reverse-sweep. Cook took the cover individually in 2011, after his Player of the Series performance in the 2010/11 Ashes.
